WhatsApp Error 132001: Template Name Does Not Exist
Error 132001 means Meta cannot find an active template translation matching the template name and language being sent. It usually appears when a template is still pending approval or when the name or language variant does not match exactly.
- Symptom: Template message fails to send and you see
meta:132001. - Error text: "Template name does not exist in the translation."
- Most common cause: Meta has not fully propagated the template (still PENDING), or the template name / language translation set does not match what the API is trying to send.
What This Error Means
Meta cannot find an active template translation that matches the template name plus the language being used.
This often happens when:
- The template is still PENDING (not enabled yet), or
- The template exists, but the translation or language variant expected by the send request does not exist.
Quick Checks
In ABC → Templates:
- Search for the exact template name.
- Confirm the status is Enabled (not Pending).
In Meta / WhatsApp Manager:
- Confirm the template appears and is Approved.
- Confirm the template name matches exactly (case and underscores) between the template created in Meta and the template selected in ABC.
Resolution Options
Option 1: Wait for Approval / Propagation (Recommended First)
- If the status is PENDING, wait. The maximum waiting time is up to 24 hours.
- Recheck the status later and try again once it becomes Enabled/Approved.
Option 2: Fix a Missing Translation or Language Mismatch
- Ensure the template has the required language translation.
- If ABC is sending in a specific language, make sure that language variant exists in Meta for that template.
Option 3: Recreate the Template (When Stuck)
- If everything looks correct but sending still fails after 24 hours, recreate a new template with a new unique name, submit it, and use the new one in ABC.
When to Escalate
Escalate if:
- The template shows Enabled/Approved for more than 24 hours but the error persists.
- Multiple templates fail with the same error across different languages.
What to Collect Before Escalating
- Screenshot of the ABC Templates page showing the template status and name.
- Screenshot of the Meta template status.
- Exact error code and error text.
- WABA ID / Phone Number ID (if available).
