Meta Conversion API (WhatsApp): Setup Guide


Meta Conversion API (CAPI) helps Meta attribute WhatsApp-driven conversions (appointments, purchases, qualified leads) back to the Facebook or Instagram ads that started the chat. This guide shows you how to set it up in ABC Sales AI.


Why This Matters


When someone clicks a Facebook or Instagram ad and starts a WhatsApp conversation, Meta can't "see" what happens inside WhatsApp by default. If that person later books an appointment, buys, or becomes a qualified lead, Meta won't attribute that outcome to the ad unless conversion signals are sent back to Meta.


Sending conversion events back to Meta helps you:


  • Improve ad reporting: more accurate ROI and attribution
  • Improve ad delivery: Meta learns which audiences actually convert
  • Optimize future targeting: better performance over time

How It Works (3-Step Flow)


  1. Ad click, WhatsApp chat starts: a customer clicks your Facebook/Instagram ad and starts a WhatsApp conversation. ABC Sales AI recognizes the lead came from a specific campaign or ad.
  2. Conversation continues, conversion happens: something valuable happens (appointment booked, order confirmed, purchase intent).
  3. Conversion event sent back to Meta: ABC Sales AI sends a conversion signal to Meta so it can attribute the conversion to the correct ad or campaign and improve reporting and optimization.

Step 1: Enable Meta Conversion API in ABC Sales AI


  1. Go to Company Settings > Conversion Tracking
  2. Enable the Conversion API / tracking toggles
  3. Fill in your Pixel ID (Dataset ID), Page ID, and Access Token
  4. Optionally add a Test Code (for testing events only)
  5. Scroll down and click Save

Step 2: Get Your Pixel ID, Access Token, and Page ID


Pixel ID (Dataset ID)


  1. Open Ads Manager: https://adsmanager.facebook.com/
  2. Go to Events Manager
  3. Select your Dataset
  4. Go to Settings
  5. Copy the Dataset ID and use it as your Pixel ID

Access Token


  1. Open Ads Manager: https://adsmanager.facebook.com/
  2. Go to Events Manager
  3. Select your Dataset
  4. Go to Settings
  5. Click Generate access token

Page ID


  1. Open Meta Business Suite: salesbotsecrets.com/wa
  2. Go to the Business portfolio connected to your Facebook Page
  3. Under Accounts > Pages, copy the Page ID
  4. Paste it into ABC Sales AI Company Settings

Step 3: Create the AI Tool Trigger (to Send Events)


After enabling Meta Conversion API in Company Settings, you must set up an AI Tool that triggers the conversion event.


  1. Go to AI Employee > AI Tools > Add Tool
  2. Select Meta Conversion Events
  3. Keep the tool name as default (or rename it if you prefer)
  4. Configure the trigger scenario very specifically, based on your business goal
  5. Click Save

Trigger examples by business type:


  • Appointment businesses: trigger when the lead books an appointment
  • E-commerce / sales: trigger when the lead confirms purchase or mentions payment (e.g., "paid", "payment done", "I've transferred")

Best Practices


  • Always click Save after entering your Pixel ID, Page ID, and Access Token
  • Keep the trigger scenario specific so the conversion signal fires only when a true conversion happens

Use the Test Code only while testing. Remove it once you have confirmed events are being received correctly, otherwise your events stay in test mode.
